Non so cantar (“I can’t sing”) playfully explores the many ways musicians make their living and live with their art. At first glance, the title might sound like self-mockery — and it is, but only in the best sense: the song uses a light, ironic touch to reflect on the passion, struggle, and identity of being a musician.
Rather than a lament, Non so cantar celebrates the multiple paths music can take us on, from dreams of artistic purity to the realities of performance, collaboration, and survival. The track mixes inventive songwriting with spoken French narration by Enzo Lo Verde, adding another layer of colour and personality.
The piece was produced by Urs Wiesendanger at Powerplay Studios, and it also found a wider audience through a live performance on Canale Italia, conducted by Teddy Reno. Watch the video clip here:
